School of Engineering at University of Lincoln invites applications for a
three year, full – time fully funded industrial related PhD studentship
to study in two-phase flow, particularly gas liquid two-phase flow,
which is found widely in a whole range of industrial applications,
including boiler, sustainable energy conversion system, air
conditioning and ventilation for building heat and cooling integration
and refrigeration. The three year PhD project aims to develop innovative
technical solution to predict and modulate the two-phase flow heat
transfer profile of thermofluid in novelty energy conversion system and
study system energy control performance by applying the computational
fluid dynamics (CFD) technique and Multiphysics approach. The numerical
techniques will be developed to facilitate the system design process and
further improve the efficiency of system energy harvest.
The candidates should have an honours degree (minimum 2.1) or a Master's degree in engineering or physical science, and be able to demonstrate strong mathematical and analytical skills. An understanding of CFD modelling techniques and cross-disciplinary skills are also required. Candidates are expected some experience to use the simulation software, such as, Ansys Fluent and/or COMSOL, etc. The knowledge in use of OpenFOAMâ will be advantage, but not essential. The student will have opportunity work at relevant industry in the UK.
The three year studentship will cover student fees (up to the value of UK fees) and give a tax-free stipend of £11,000 per annum, and is available to candidates of all nationalities.
Informal enquiries can be made by e-mail to Dr. Jun Yao via: jyao@lincoln.ac.uk
